Kinmen Marathon 2025: Run Together
Kinmen Marathon 2025: Run Together for an Exciting 18th Edition! Taipei Press Conference
Released Time:2024/9/18
The 2025 edition will feature the theme “Beishan Broadcasting Wall,” highlighting Kinmen’s military history and the songs of Teresa Teng, inviting both domestic and international runners with the slogan: “Exciting 18, Let’s Run Together!”
The event will take place on January 18 and 19, 2025, over two days. On January 18, the Health & Leisure Groups (Fun Run and Fun Walk) will kick off at Kincheng Stadium with a cap of 7,000 participants.
On January 19, the Competitive Groups (Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and Road Race) will start at the Kinmen Joint Services Center Plaza with a total limit of 8,800 participants (2,000 for the Full Marathon, 3,300 for the Half Marathon, and 3,500 for the Road Race).
Registration for the Competitive Groups will open on June 28 at 3 p.m., followed by the Health & Leisure Groups at 6 p.m. Due to limited slots, early registration is encouraged.
The 2025 marathon will feature a new route, showcasing new scenic spots. Runners will head towards the southwestern area of Kinmen Island and run counterclockwise around the island, finishing at the Kinmen Joint Services Center Plaza.
Participants in the Fun Run and Fun Walk will receive a limited edition 300ml commemorative bottle of wine and enjoy post-race meals.
Along the route, there will be cheering squads, amphibious frogmen running alongside participants, and light tactical vehicles as lead and trailing vehicles. Runners in the Competitive Groups will receive a finisher’s medal, a large bath towel, a limited-edition porcelain wine bottle, and post-race refreshments at sponsor booths. There will also be a carnival and lucky draw at the stadium.
The Kinmen Marathon route, certified by the World Athletics (WA) and Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) since its first edition in 2008, will not include the Kinmen Bridge in 2025, which had strong winds and slopes that affected race times. The course will focus on Kinmen Island’s natural landscapes and wartime history, excluding challenging sections like the steep Jingwu Road.
The race will pass through iconic sites such as the Guningtou Peace Memorial Park and the Cihu and Shuangli Lakes. With the new, flatter route, runners are encouraged to aim for personal bests. The full marathon has a 7-hour time limit, making it ideal for first-time marathoners. A commemorative wooden trophy for first-time marathon finishers will be available for purchase.
To address previous flight difficulties, the county government has coordinated with the Civil Aeronautics Administration and airlines to plan additional flights for runners traveling to and from Kinmen.
If runners cannot book their preferred flights, they are advised to fill out a waiting list for extra flights. Please stay updated through the official websites and social media pages of the Road Running Association and Kinmen Marathon
